Why this document exists

OSS Ventures is not a normal company.

We do not optimize for comfort, consensus, or average outcomes. We optimize for learning speed, excellence, and compounding impact in some of the most demanding environments there are: industrial operations, AI-native products, and category creation.

This document is a practical guide to giving, receiving, and acting on feedback at OSS. It is not about politeness. It is not about managerial hygiene. It is about survival, leverage, respect and company survival.

If you work at OSS, you are implicitly playing a game where:

In that context, feedback is oxygen.

1.1 We play a high-slope game

At OSS, effort is table stakes. Intelligence is table stakes. Good intentions are table stakes.

What differentiates outcomes is:

A team that avoids feedback will look harmonious in the short term and fail quietly in the medium term.

A team that embraces feedback will feel uncomfortable at times and win disproportionately.
